Padang Panjang (ANTARA) - The government of the city of Padang Panjang, W Sumatra campaigned for a healthy living movement (Germas) through the culinary event of the Rujak and Pical Festival in the Kubu Gadang Tourism Village on Sunday.

"Eating fruits and vegetables is a habit for a healthy life. "If you get bored eating it the normal way, it can be processed into menus such as pical and salad," said Head of the Padang Panjang Health Service, Nuryanuwar in Padang Panjang, Sunday.

Pical is a vegetarian menu consisting of various of vegetables such as bean sprouts, cassava leaves, cabbage, or other vegetables equipped with yellow noodles as carbohydrates eaten with spicy peanut sauce.

While fruit rujak consists of various fruits such as yam, pineapple, cucumber, mango and other thinly sliced fruits eaten with sweet and spicy flavored brown sugar.

The festival is also to promote typical pical and rujak seasoning from the villages in Padang Panjang.

"In a day it is recommended to consume five servings of vegetables and fruit, can be two servings of fruit and three servings of vegetables or vice versa," he said.

In addition to eating vegetables and fruit, he explained a healthy lifestyle is also followed by regular physical activity for at least 30 minutes a day. This example can be done on foot when going to the market, school or other destination.

Other activities are getting used to checking their health every six months to the nearest health facility, and not smoking.

He explained that efforts to encourage people to adopt a healthy lifestyle were also carried out by conveying a message to each letter in the slogan of the Veranda of Mecca.
