Payakumbuh Improves Quality of Rendang Village Products

Payakumbuh, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Payakumbuh Municipality, West Sumatra seeks to improve the quality of production in Rendang Village as a central area of Small and Medium Industries (IKM) of rendang (meat stewed in coconut milk and spices).

"We are continuing to make efforts to improve the quality of production," Head of Industry Sector of Local Department of Manpower and Industry, Faizal stated in here on Sunday.

He said the physical work has started since 2017, and it will enter the second stage of workmanship at this time.

Some facilities that will be built are the main kitchen, kitchen for Small and Medium Industry (IKM), warehouse and others.

The municipal government also strives that IKM who joined in Rendang Village can use equipment that fulfills industry standards.

For quality, the municipal government has established communication with Central Food and Drug Administration (BPOM).

The communication is done to ensure properness, safety, good production flow for food.

"In essence, we continue to improve both in terms of facilities or infrastructure, although it is still done gradually," he remarked.

In general, Rendang Village in Payakumbuh is the sales center of various variants of rendang by IKM.

At least until now, there are 30 variants rendang produced by IKM, but only eight of them which have existed and known to the public. (cha)
