Hundreds of Padang Citizens Enjoy Minangkabau Express Train for Free

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Hundreds of residents of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra enjoy traveling by using Minangkabau Express train from Simpang Haru Station to Minangkabau International Airport (BIM) in which the vice versa for free.

"The free ticket program is aimed at getting people to travel to the airport by using this train," Head of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Divre II West Sumatra Yuharman stated in Padang.

According to him, the free ticket program is applied on May 1 to 3, 2018. After that, the passengers who will use this facility charged Rp10 thousand from Simpang Haru Station to BIM.

This train operates 10 times a day, five departures from Simpang Haru Station of Padang and five times depart from BIM of Padangpariaman District.

The first departure from Simpang Haru Station, Padang will start from 06.15 a.m. and the last at 04.20 p.m.. While the departure from BIM Padangpariaman is starting from 07.40 a.m. and the latest at 05.55 p.m..

"The enthusiasm of community is quite good on this first day until the third departure from Simpang Haru Station. The number of passengers has reached 500 people," he noted.

For people who want to enjoy the free Minangkabau Express airport train facility from Simpang Haru Station to BIM can pick up tickets at counter that have been provided.

The ticket is only valid for one trip so that residents who have been in BIM must also take a ticket at the counter to go to Simpang Haru Station.

"This train can carry out 589 passengers which is consisting of 393 seats and 196 passengers are provided for standing grip. We hope people can get to use this transport," he added. (cha)
