Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - West Sumatera Provincial Government identifies Minangkabau traditional garments of women which is reaching 800 types and they are being documented to remain as cultural wealth.

"The findings of women's clothing in Minangkabau are astonishing because of their number that reaches hundreds," West Sumatra Culture Agency Chief Taufik Effendi stated in Padang on Monday.

He conveys that is related to the cultural wealth of ethnic of Minangkabau, one of them in terms of traditional clothing types.

According to him the number is quite fantastic because in each nagari (traditional village) in West Sumatra, there are different types of women's clothing. Even in one nagari, but it has different tribes.

The difference lies in the ornaments and knacks which are used and other equipment such as suntiang (headdress).

That is should be documented as soon as possible because it needs to be known to the next generation.

The current documentation of 234 types has been done and is continuing in accordance with the available budget. Expected in the next two or three years, all types of clothing can be well documented.

Governor of West Sumatra, Irwan Prayitno supports the efforts made by the cultural service because of cultural wealth is also closely related to tourism that can help improve the welfare of community.
