Bukittinggi, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The street vendors who trade inside the zoo of Kinantan Wildlife and Culture Park (TMSBK) in Bukittinggi Municipality, West Sumatra are asked to move from that location within 15 days since Thursday (Jan 18).
Head of Tourism, Youth and Sports (Disparpora) of Bukittinggi, Erwin Umar in Bukittinggi, Friday, said it was according to the rule that the activity of sale and purchase should not be near the animal cage.
"If the condition of the merchant kiosk remains allowed to stay in the zoo area longer, we are worried that it will be bad for the animals," he added.
He explained that there are currently 30 new kiosks built using Rp995 million special allocation fund (DAK) of tourism in 2017.
New kiosk position lined up on the left and right to the entrance of the zoo.
The use of kiosks by traders using the system of rent per year at a cost of Rp9 million to Rp10 million.
This is different from the time traders which are still inside the zoo area that implements the payment of levy system collected every month.
The stipulation of kiosk rental cost is done by the Finance Agency, Economic Section and Legal Department of Bukittinggi City Government.
"If there is a rental system, Disparpora is no longer justified to collect retribution as before, it has been informed by the merchant to local parliament yesterday (Jan 18) but it has become the right as the community," he explained.
Previously a number of traders who move in the zoo area complained to local parliament related to the rental of new kiosks which are considered expensive in the attraction.
According to Chief of Traders, Abdurrahman, the cost of rent is not affordable by traders who generally sell souvenirs and snacks.
Through the parliament, it expects the monthly retribution can still apply in new kiosks. (cha)
