Solok To Build Blood Transfusion Unit Next Year

Arosuka, (Antara Sumbar) - Regent of Solok District, West Sumatra, Gusmal said it will build a Blood Transfusion Unit (UTD) in 2018 as an effort to fulfill the needs of blood in the area.

"We will budget to build UTD next year," he said during the inauguration of the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) committee for the period 2017-2022 on Monday.

PMI of Solok District has difficulties in finding donors and bloodbags due to the absence of their own UTD, whereas previously they were riding with PMI of Solok Municipality.

He invited the members of BPBD, disaster preparedness cadets (Tagana), health offices, and the community to participate as PMI volunteer. Because, members of the board of PMI are only 11 people certainly which are not enough to care of Solok District.

"The task of PMI can not be done alone, because it involves the humanitarian task," he said.

He also advised that the PMI board members who are inaugurated and confirmed in order to perform the task well, sincerely, and full of willingness for the task of helping community a noble task.

Meanwhile, Vice Chairman of PMI West Sumatra, Suryadi Asmi said PMI should be ready to anticipate any disaster that will arise, because the task of PMI is not just about blood donation.

"The condition of West Sumatra is close to the ravine, beaches, hills, and others become prone to landslides, floods, tsunamis, so it requires a member of the PMI," he said.

PMI should coordinate with the Government, Social Service, Hospital, BPBD and so on related to every disaster to get fast service.

Later, PMI members should have the skills and training to be certified to contribute in any disaster. (cha)
