Pariaman (ANTARA) - The Government of Pariaman City, W Sumatra trained the young generation in the village so that they can make creative videos to increase tourism promotion and the potential of the region.

“Each village sends its residents to attend training and we will train them maybe for the next five or six years (to make creative videos), " said the Head of the Pariaman City Tourism and Culture Office, Dwi Marhen Yono after the opening of the Creative Video Competition Workshop. Inter villages in East Pariaman, Thursday.

He said, residents in each village were chosen so that create creative young generations in Pariaman City and make videos of the potential in their respective regions.

"We do not allow residents from outside the village, but if only as a guide, they can," he said.

The videos will be uploaded in  official social media accounts so that it can be accessed by netizens and the potential in the region can be known to the wider community.

He said that If there were 71 villages making creative videos about Pariaman City it can increase tourism promotion in that region.

“With the videos, the village government also knows the potential in its village,” he said.

He said that previously the promotion was just through the book but now, it was made more interesting by making videos so that it can attract the interest of wider community to witness it.

“Cameras could be the village government budgeting for purchases or computers according to the needs of the residents who made the video," said Marhen.

He said that for the first step, his party held a creative video making competition about villages whose activities were launched on October 1, 2020.

He detailed the series of competition activities, starting from the explanation of the competition's provisions, 26 to 29 October guidance at the Pariaman Tourism and Culture Office,  November 1, 2020 video uploaded on social media, and 12 December 2020 announcement of winners.

"They have to create three social media accounts, namely Instagram, Facebook and Youtube," he said.

The assessment on the competition is not just the quality of the video but also the most viewers on social media accounts.

East Pariaman Sub-district Head, M. Arif Gunawan, stated that the training program was not only aimed at increasing human resources in the village but also maximizing tourism promotion and the potential of the area.

"Maybe later the potential for tourism, agriculture, culinary, and cultural arts in East Pariaman will be widely known by the wider community," he added.
