Solar eclipse will appear in W Sumatra in this month

Padang (ANTARA) - The Meteorological, Climatological, and Geophysical Agency of Padang Panjang, W Sumatra estimated ring solar eclipses will occur on Sunday (6/21) in several areas in W Sumatra.
"Based on our observations, it is estimated that the ring solar eclipse will occur on Sunday, June 21, 2020 in W Sumatra," said the Division Head of the Padang Panjang BMKG Data and Information, Mamuri when contacted from Padang on Friday.
He added that a solar eclipse seen from W Sumatra was a partial solar eclipse with an eclipse magnitude ranging from 0.031 in Tua Pejat to 0.099 in Lubuk Sikaping.

Then, according to him in general the solar eclipse that will occur in W Sumatra starts at 02.03 P.M., the peak occurs at 02.54 P.M., and will end at 03.37 P.M..
"The duration of solar eclipses that will occur in W Sumatra on average is 1.37 minutes," he said.
He mentioned areas in W Sumatra that will experience a solar eclipse on Sunday (6/21) are Padang, Simpang Ampek, Lubuk Sikaping, Lubuk Basung, Bukittinggi, Parit Malintang, Pariaman, Padang Panjang, Painan, Payakumbuh, Arosuka, Solok, Batu Sangkar, and Sarilamak.
"Furthermore, Sawahlunto, Muaro Sinjunjung, Padang Aro and Sungai Dareh," he added.

He appealed for people not to see the sun directly during a solar eclipse. He suggested using glasses with special filters.
He explained that a solar eclipse is an event where the sunlight is blocked by the moon, so that not all light reaches the earth.
BMKG estimated that there were six eclipses in 2020, namely the lunar eclipse on January 11, 2020 which can be seen in Indonesia, the lunar eclipse on June 6, 2020, the Solar eclipse on June 21, 2020 which can be see in Indonesia in the form of a partial solar eclipse, except in most parts of Java and a small part of southern Sumatra.
"Furthermore, the Lunar Eclipse on July 5, 2020 which cannot be see in Indonesia, the Lunar Eclipse on November 20, 2020 which can be see in Western Indonesia before the eclipse ends, and the Total Solar Eclipse which will happened on December 14, 2020 which could not be see in Indonesia, "he continued.
