Padang government evaluates smart city program

Padang (ANTARA) - The Government of Padang city, W Sumatra conducted an evaluation of the implementation of the smart city program to be able to improve community services and exploit regional potential.

"This is the third year that Padang City has entered as one of the 100 cities that have been provided with facilities by the Ministry of Communication and Information to become a smart city and there are several evaluations that we will carry out," said the Secretary of Communication and Information Agency of Padang, Tarmizi Ismail in Padang, Wednesday.

He said, the joint activity with the Agency For The Assessment and Application of (BPPT) would visit several places and Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPDs) included in the six pillars of the smart city to find out the achievements and processes to be carried out.

"In equating this smart city program we continue to make other efforts, including increasing human resources, also innovating and improvising programs," he said.

He mentioned the six pillars that support Padang to be a smart city are smart government, which includes the services of the state civil both internally and externally, besides that smart economy is oriented towards economic improvement by utilizing technology.

In addition, there is also smart living, smart branding, smart environment and smart society where all services provided by the government can be accessed and utilized by the community.

"To see the achievements of the smart branding pillar, we will review Air Manis beach, where the location has used the entrance service using Brizi cards and the provision of free wi-fi," he said.

Tarmizi said, to realize a smart city that is in accordance with the blueprint of the central government, all the pillars in the OPD must be in line and also collaborate and support each other.

He hopes, in 2021 all villages can be connected to the use of technology, and the results of the current evaluation can be used as material to find out what should be pursued.
