Brunei becomes a potential market for halal tourism in West Sumatra

Padang (ANTARA) - The neighboring country of Brunei Darussalam can be an ideal market for halal tourism packages in W Sumatra because of the character of tourists who do not want to leave worship while traveling.

"W Sumatra has potential destination, culinary and cultural and also has mosques and mushallas in all regions. This is an attraction for Brunei tourists, "said the Head of the W Sumatra Tourism Office, Novrial in Padang, Thursday.

The character of the Brunei tourist very suitable with the concept of halal tourism being developed by W Sumatra. Access to worship to hygienic culinary is well available so that tourists can be well served.

Based on the evaluation of the Indonesian Embassy's Familiarization Trip (Famtrip) activities Bandar Seri Begawan 24-27 November 2019 which brought 10 people each of four travel agents, two selebgrams and two medias, Brunei tourists also really like shopping.

"They shop on many occasions. This is the ideal character of tourists because it will have a direct impact on society, "Novrial said.

Bringing travel agents, influencers and mass media from certain countries to W Sumatra is one of the Tourism Office programs to promote regional tourism potential. The aim is to increase the number of tourist visits to W Sumatra.

Meanwhile Head of Marketing for the W Sumatra Tourism Office Hendri Agung Indrianto said during the closing night, the tourists from Brunei highly praised the natural beauty and culinary pleasure in W Sumatra.

During this time they did not know about W Sumatra. Brunei society is only familiar with Bali and Yogyakarta.

"After visiting W Sumatra, they consider this is the most suitable tourist spot for Brunei tourists who do not want to leave worship while on tour," he said.

Agung is optimistic, in the future the number of Brunei tourists to W Sumatra will be more, like Malaysian tourists who have been dominating.
