Mentawai, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Government of Mentawai Island District, West Sumatra prioritizes the construction of two ports on Siberut Island in 2019, Head of Transportation Agency of Mentawai Edi Sukarni stated in Tuapejat on Monday.
He said the construction of the two ports aimed to open the access road for isolated and difficult areas. The two ports are Labuan Bajau in West Siberut and Mabukuk harbor precisely Southwest Siberut.
Specifically for the port of Labuan Bajau, he said, currently it has done the clearing of land area of five hectares from local community grants.
Labuan Bajau harbor begins in 2019 and it is targeted to be completed by 2020 which the cost of Rp74 billion, he pointed out.
"This year it is only land clearing, and the cost of community crop replacement with a budget of Rp400 million," he noted.
For the port of Mabukuk, Edi revealed the development aims to support the existence of special economic zones of tourism and it cost Rp40 billion.
He hopes that the budget for the two activities can run well so that the development completion target is also timely. (cha)
