Painan, (Antaranews Sumbar) - By spending less than Rp10,000, people can enjoy the tourist attraction located in Environmental Care of Youth Warriors (Laskar Pemuda Peduli Lingkungan) area in Amping Parak, Sutera Sub-district, South Pesisir District, West Sumatra.

Not only enjoy the beach view, people can see the turtles of various types collected by Environmental Care of Youth Warriors.

Environmental Care of Youth Warriors currently collects 11 turtles of various species in captivity. In addition to Hawksbill (Eretmochelys imbricata), there are also Green Turtle (Chelonia mydas), Lekang (Lepidochelys olivacea), and Tempayan (Caretta).

Chairman of the Environmental Care of Youth Warriors, Haridman in Painan, Wednesday explained that the turtle collection of Lengkang is the oldest with the age of two years and four months, while the youngest is Hawksbill with a age of about six months.

These turtles are fed fresh fish twice a day, as well as the replacement of the water which is done twice a day.

The turtles are deliberately collected in addition to as a means of learning for tourists, then it also used as research materials for both students or agencies interested.

Tourists who come to the location, in addition to see the collection of turtles, they can also see the turtle or baby turtle even from the process of incubation or if it is willing to release it into the waters.

In general, Environmental Care of Youth Warriors itself was formed in 2013, but at that time, it focused on planting Ketaping tree, then 2014 focused on planting Cemara and Manggrove, then it focused on turtle breeding.

Environmental Care of Youth Warriors became an alternative of tourist attraction and its popularity continues to increase from year to year, even today, it is not only known by the local district community but also outside the region. (cha)
