Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Governor of West Sumatra, Irwan Prayitno said cooperatives must be creative and innovative, so that the organizations can compete with other economic institutions and give first-rate service to the members. "Do not stuck in saving and loan only. There are many opportunities which can give benefit to cooperatives and the members," he stated after attending the Annual Members Meeting (RAT) of Civil Servants Cooperative of Indonesian Civil Servants Corps in Padang, Monday. At this time, there are many financial institutions that offer interest or profit sharing which lower than cooperative, so that it will naturally be the competitor. If cooperatives' development do not improve, so that its role is getting less, moreover its existence can eroded. But, not all of cooperatives that experience the competition. Cooperatives which have the member with fixed income such as Civil Servants Cooperative relatively safe. On the other hand, he reminded, "if we just have a saving and loan business, it is like fishing in a crock." According to him, cooperative can glance business potential that is fulfillment the members daily needs. "The adminitrators have to pro-active, find out the needs of each Apparatus State Civil (ASN) in OPDs, if it is necessary, delivered it to each address," he added. (cha/pi)
