Solok City Government develops essential oil derivatives

Solok (ANTARA) - The Government of Solok City, W Sumatra developed essential oil derivative products in order to compete in the market and improve the quality of its products.

"Essential oils are currently become the new excellent, demanded by the community and farmers. Essential oil is one of the raw materials for sterilization in anticipation of a COVID-19 pandemic," said Head of the W Sumatra Provincial Industry and Trade Office, Asben Hendri in Padang, on Monday (7/13).

This was conveyed on the technical guidance of products for small-scale oil palm derivatives entrepreneurs affected by COVID-19.

According to him, essential oil from Solok City has the potential to be sold in better form and packaging. Including creating derivative products so that the price is more expensive and competitive.

"Essential oil derivatives can be used as disinfectants, hand sanitizers, perfumes and cosmetics," he said.

He added that it needed seriousness to develop this essential oil. Do not let the essential oil farmers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Previously, Emilham Harshad reported, the bimtek participants consisted of 16 Small and Medium Industries (SMI) producing essential oils, with details from Padang City of eight SMI, Solok City of two SMI, Solok District of two SMI, Sawahlunto City of two SMI, Kabupalen Sijunjung is obe SMI, and Mentawai Islands Regency one SMI

While Deputy Mayor Solok Reinier expressed his appreciation for the W Sumatra Provincial Industry and Trade Office who had scheduled this bimtek activity.

"We believe that the existence of these essential oil derivatives can increase employment and improve the economy of farmers," he said.

According to him, this activity is an effort to help the government improved the economy and reducing poverty.

The activity was held for four days, July 13 to 16 2020 with training material total of 31 hours.

The event was also attended by the Head of the W Sumatra Provincial Industry and Trade Office Asben Hendri, Chief of GOW of Solok City, Elfia Reinier, Chif of the TP. PKK Sijunjung District En Yuswir, Head of the Health Office of W Sumatra Province, Head of the Agriculture Office of the Solok City aIkhvan Marosa.

In addition, invited speaker Fauzan from CV. Equator Aromatherapy Bogor and Gita Triyantika from Rumah Aromawangi Bogor.
