Lubukbasung (ANTARA) - Amorphophallus titanium corpse flowers bloomed in the garden of Bamban residents, Nagari Ampek Koto Palembayan, Palembayan District, Agam Regency, W Sumatra.
One Palembayan resident, Febi Darmayanti (36) in Lubukbasung, said the location of the corpse growing near the Palembayan sub-district office about 10 minutes away.
"We will take care of these corpse flower and keep them in full bloom," he said.
He said the flower was not yet in full bloom and when it bloomed it became an attraction for the local people.
He said with the blooming of these flowers, it will become a tourist destination in the District of Palembayan.
The controller of the Ecosystem Forest of the Natural Resources Conservation Center (BKSDA) of Agam Resort, Adam Putra said that the corpse flower of Amorphophallis titanum is predicted to bloom perfectly on Tuesday (17/12).
"At present the flower petals are not fully open or in full bloom," he said.
Local BKSDA will go to the location of the growth of the corpse flower on Thursday (19/12).
Previously, hundreds of vegetative flowers of Amorphophallus titanium and Amorphophallus paeonnipolius were found growing among the durian gardens owned by Puduang residents, Jorong Belo-belo, Nagari Koto Kaciak, Tanjungraya District, on Friday (6/12).
From the hundreds of vegetative flower, one vegetative type of Amorphophallus paeonnipolius in bloom condition. In addition, corpse flowers also grow in Palupuh, Silareh Aia, Kamang Magek and others.
"We also found four individual rafflesia Arnoldii flowers in full bloom in Paninjau, Tanjungraya District," he said.
According to him the flowering of the corpse and rafflesia is due to quite high rainfall and temperature humidity.
Ade urged residents who find these flowers to maintain flowers until they bloom perfectly and do not be disturbed because the flowers are protected by Law No. 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Living Natural Resources and Ecosystems.
