Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tari Piring and Poco Poco dance performed by Indonesians in North Korea at the ASEAN Night Gathering at Ryugyonggwan Restaurant succeeded in capturing the ASEAN community in Pyongyang.

The ASEAN Dinner or "ASEAN Night Gathering" was the culmination of the celebration of ASEAN's 52nd Anniversary held by the ASEAN Committee in Pyongyang, according to a written statement from the Indonesian Embassy in Pyongyang received in Jakarta on Wednesday.

"The main of this activity is to increase the solidarity and values of ASEAN as a family," said the Indonesian Ambassador to North Korea, Berlian Napitupulu.

Members of the ASEAN Community in Pyongyang are representatives from the Indonesian Embassy, the Cambodian Embassy, the Laos Embassy, and the Vietnam Embassy.

ASEAN Night Gathering is an initiative of Indonesia which currently serves as Chair of the ASEAN Committee in Pyongyang (ACP). The ASEAN night was intended to increase solidarity and cohesiveness among the staff of embassies and the people of ASEAN member countries in Pyongyang, North Korea.

The ASEAN Night Gathering is the highlight of the series of commemorations of the 52nd Anniversary of ASEAN in North Korea after the "ASEAN Friendly Games" was held at the Indonesian Embassy in Pyongyang on August 8, 2019.

According to the Ambassador, Berlian, ASEAN with 640 million human resources has become one of the centers of world economic growth and the fourth largest economic bloc in the world.

"The ASEAN socioeconomic potential cannot be fully developed if there is no unity andwe-feelingamong the ASEAN community. For that reason, I emphasize that in this event we all have to blend together and get to know each other more closely. Each table must be filled by people from four ASEAN countries. "Language differences should not become obstacles, but can be overcome if there is a will and togetherness," he said.

The event became even more lively when Indonesian citizens invited the audience to dance Poco-Poco together.
