Turtle conservation area was planted with 5,000 mangrove seedlings

Painan (ANTARA) - Supporting eco tourism programs based disaster risk reduction (PRB) , as many as 5,000 mangrove seedlings are planted at Turtle Conservation area, in Ampiang Parak Sutera District, Pesisir Selatan.

Planting was carried out by the Arbeiter Samariter Bund (ASB) and the Nagari Disaster Management Team (PB) on Sunday.

Mangrove plants have a million benefits, supporting marine ecosystems, disaster mitigation plants and supporting tourist attractions.

An area of one hectare of mangrove can absorb carbon dioxide emissions equivalent to 59 motorbikes per year, said Project Officer, ASB Institute Miftahul Kahiri.

As many as 35,000 mangrove seedlings that have been planted before can be felt the benefits, the water ecosystem around the mangrove park begins to change, fish and other aquatic animals begin to come.

From an economic standpoint, mangrove seeds are much sought after for disaster mitigation plants, said Chairman of Turtle Conservation in Ampiang Parak, Haridman .

Not only planting 5,000 mangroves, we also make mangrove seedlings in the conservation area.

In the future, it is expected that Nagari Ampiang Parak can become one of the nagari providers of mangrove seedlings, Miftahul said.

Eco tourism is not a mass type of tourism, but the principle of eco tourism must have conservation value, community participation, there are benefits, there is education.

Then visitors to eco-tourism after returning from the eco-tourism area gained knowledge, said Febriadi, representative of the Youth and Sports Agency of Pesisir Selatan Regency, in Ampiang Parak.
