Pasaman Barat will be the area without plastic

Simpang Empat (ANTARA) - The Government of Pasaman Barat Regency, W Sumatra, declared the area without plastic to support joint efforts to preserve the environment.

"This announcement is to commemorate World Environment Day 2019," Deputy West Pasaman Regent, Yulianto said at Simpang Empat on Wednesday.

He explained that all parties are required to care more about the environment. The form of the activity is in the form of reducing plastic waste by carrying shopping carts and own containers while traveling, carrying food boxes and drink bottles themselves.

"Don't use plastic packaging at meetings or parties. "Do not dispose of litter and recycle or process plastic waste into new items to be useful," he said.

He mentioned that the reduction and utilization of plastic waste is not only the responsibility of the Environmental Agency, but all levels of society.

Head of the West Pasaman Environmental Agency, Andrinaldi, said that in the framework of the Environment Day, his party has carried out various activities, including an exhibition of recycling and environmental care, a waste recycling creativity competition, the distribution of environmental care stickers, bottled drinks and Ecobag, socialization and reduction education garbage, and the use of plastic waste.

"We have also distributed 1,000 Ecobags or shopping bags in three 'minimarkets' in West Pasaman, namely Mini Market Sejati, Citra Swalayan, and Mini Market Seven. "The distribution of 1,000 bottles of drinks was followed by participants in the Environmental Day event," he said.

He stressed that the target of this activity was the utilization of a ton of plastic waste. Plastic waste is recycled into souvenirs, including flower, woven, and key chains.

The World Environment Day activity began with mass picking up of garbage by the entire West Pasaman Reginal Government apparatus and elements of the West Pasaman Regional Leadership Communication Forum and tree planting followed by official vehicle emissions testing. (*)
