South Pesisir Empowers 11 Tourism Awareness Groups To Support Tourism Sector

Painan, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of South Pesisir District, West Sumatra empowers 11 tourism awareness groups (pokdarwis) to support local tourism sector. Head of Tourism Youth and Sports, Mawardi Roska stated in here on Wednesday.

"This number has increased compared to 2017 when there were only four pokdarwis," he stated.

He said there are various activities performed by pokdarwis among others encourage people to provide information and be friendly to tourists and others.

"Pokdarwis is a driving force and it is an extension of government's hand in providing an understanding to public about the importance of tourists," he said.

In addition, pokdarwis also actively create such creative ideas related to tourism sector and hold some activities in supporting tourism development.

Of the 11 pokdarwis are Pokdarwis Carocok Bukit Langkisau, Pokdarwis Tarasah Kamumun, Pokdarwis Salido Sari Bulan, Pokdarwis Koto Nan Duo, Pokdarwis Mandeh Bahari, Pokdarwis Gunjantino, Pokdarwis Sago Salido, Pokdarwis Batu Putiah Indah.

Pokdarwis are scattered in Koto XI Tarusan Sub-district, Bayang, North Bayang, IV Jurai, Batang Kapas and Ranah IV Hulu Tapan

In general, pokdarwis is filled by people who are engaged in tourism services such as restaurant entrepreneurs, craftsmen and people who care about the world of tourism. (cha)
