Padang Makes Various Festivals as Main Tourism Activities in 2018

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra makes various festivals and performances as the priority activities and the main regional tourism in 2018.

"From January up to December, there are various cultural, art and sport festivals which are held," Head of Tourism and Culture of Padang, Medi Iswandi stated in Padang, Wednesday.

He mentioned that since January to December, it holds music performances every week, especially in Pujasera in Padang Beach.

Then, in order to coincide with the National Press Day in February, it has been held Rendang Festival Rendang.

Several activities also enliven the biggest activities of the year such as exhibitions and bazaars.

In March, it has been held the election of tourism ambassadors, including one of the theme is promoting the Integrated Tourism Area of Gunung Padang.

Then, in April, it has organized a creative economic exhibition involving young entrepreneurs in Padang.

Continuing in May, there will be a Ramadan Exhibition in the form of artistic, religious and bazaar activities centered around Gunung Padang.

In June, there is an Eid Al-Fitr exhibition which has a similar concept to Ramadhan Expo.

Then, there is Selaju Sampan centered in Batang Arau through Siti Nurbaya Bridge in July.

In August, it will be a music festival involving countries along the Indian Ocean and other worlds in Padang Indian Ocean Music Festival.

In the same month, there will also be Telong-Telong Festival and Gowes Siti Nurbaya which are relaxing bike activity around Gunung Padang. While the next month, there will be an International Dragon Boat Competition that will be held in Banda Bakali.

In September, there will be an annual festival of Siti Nurbaya Festival 2018 which focuses on promoting local culture.

In October, Padang will be the route of Tour de Singkarak 2018, one of them will hold the festival.

Futhermore, in November and December, it will hold contest of painting old town and Randai festival. (cha)
