Parit Malintang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The number of poor families in Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatra, decreased 13,099 households (KK) from around 36,000 in 2015 to 22,901 in 2017, local government official said.
"The number is decreasing after the data validation done some time ago," Head of Social Affairs, Women Empowerment and Child Protection of Padang Pariaman, Arman Adek stated in Parit Malintang, Tuesday.
He said the validation is done because the previous data from 2015 is not relevant anymore with the current conditions.
He explained the irrelevance because from 2015 until 2017 there was an increase in the economic community and the movement of population both into and out of the district.
"With the span of that year, there will be a change in the level of community's economy," he said.
In addition, the government is also pressing the number of poor people with several programs including Family Hope Program, Joint Business Group, and hand over the prosperous rice (Rastra).
With the increase of economy, population movement, and programs launched then the number of poor families in Padang Pariaman can be suppressed.
Previously, Padang Pariaman Government is validating the data of poor families in the area to ensure the citizens are eligible for assistance.
"There are many aids from the government at this time which are not on target because the data is not valid yet," Arman Adek added. (cha)
