Batusangkar (ANTARA) - Prices of basic necessities, especially red chilies, in a number of village markets in Tanah Datar Regency, West Sumatra continue to rise this week.
One of the red chilli traders at Nagari Barulak Tanah Datar Market Yogi, Saturday, said that the price of red chili at the trader is now being sold for IDR 40,000 to IDR 45,000 per kilogram.
"The price has increased around IDR. 5,000 to IDR. 10,000 thousand compared to last week's sale of only IDR. 35,000 thousand," he said.
He said the increase in the price of red chilies had occured since several this weeks because supply of chili from farmers decreased.
The same thing was said by a trader in the market Lis. She sold red chilies at a price range of IDR 45,000 per kilogram.
This increase was also influenced by the high price obtained from farmers, so that it also had an impact on the selling price.
"Previously, I only bought IDR. 30,000 per kilogram from farmers, now it has increased to IDR. 40,000, even more," she said.
Apart from red chilies, other basic necessities also increase such as shallots and green beans.
For shallots, currently it reaches IDR 30,000 per kilogram, an increase of around IDR 10,000 from the previous price, while green beans also rose at IDR 7,000 per kg.
"Usually for one kilogram of shallots just IDR 20,000 per kilogram, now it has increased to IDR 30,000," she said.
She admitted that although the prices of several commodities had increased, public demand in the market was still stable.
