Padang (ANTARA) - PT. Indonesian Railways Regional Division II West Sumatra reduced the frequency of Sibinuang Railroad trips to the Padang-Naras route when the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) were implemented by the provincial government.
"Besides supporting PSBB, this is also related to the decline in train passenger occupancy and it starts from April 20 until June 17, 2020, "said Head of Public Relationship of KAI Divre II West Sumatra, M. Reza Fahlepi in Padang, Sunday.

He explained that the reduced Sibinuang train schedule, which had previously been eight times a day, was now reduced to four trips.
Meanwhile, for the frequency of the Minangkabau Express Railway trip with Padang-BIM route had previously been 12 trips, and since April 1, 2020, until now also has experienced a reduction.
He said there was a reduction in the frequency of trips by two trips so that currently only 10 trips.

He said that ticket sales were only 50 percent of the seating capacity. It aims to implement "physical distancing" between passengers on the train in accordance with government policy.
He stressed to prospective passengers who want to travel by train are required to wear masks.
This is in accordance with government policies and WHO recommendations, which require people to wear masks when they are outdoors.
This reduced travel schedule policy will continue to be evaluated in accordance with developments and the situation in the field, in line with efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19, which continues to be carried out by PT KAI Divre II.
"Despite the reduced train schedule, KAI will continue to provide the best service to passengers who need railroad transportation in accordance with the Covid-19 prevention protocol that has been implemented," he said.
