The Income of Indonesian Flag Seller in Padang has Dropped

Padang (ANTARA) - The income of The Indonesian red and white flag in Padang City has dropped dramatically from the few last year.

Iwan, one of the flag sellers around Karya Intersection who has been selling Indonesian flags for two decades, claimed that he dropped almost twenty percent of his commemoration for this year.

Last year, he got Rp20 millions for the income, but until now there was a decrease of almost eighty percent. Due to community restriction (PPKM), I started at the end of July. Meanwhile the previous year, I started at the beginning of July. “The delay is really impactful for the income”, said Iwan who sells for 24 hours.

The Indonesian flag which is a seasonal seller and became the unique icon on The Indonesia’s Independence Days. The activity of flag hoisting in every house is a tradition to celebrate Independence Days.

There are several kinds of flags that are sold such as maritime flags, flagpole, pennant, and it is sold with a different size.

There are various prices offered by the seller, it started from Rp15 thousand until Rp125 thousand. The flags that he sold were produced by his family. His products are also sold in several areas such as in Nurul Iman Mosque, Sawahan, Also Khatib Sulaiman Street.

According to Iwan, The community prefered to use the old flags instead of the new one. Also the delay of the seller to start selling due to community restriction. “ I noticed that many people still used the old flags, that’s why they did not buy the new flags,” said Iwan.
