Lubukbasung (ANTARA) - The Fisheries and Food Security Service of Agam Regency, West Sumatra recorded 14.2 tons of whiteleg shrimp production in the area during 2020.

“The whiteleg shrimp production comes from 16 plots of shrimp ponds with an area of 51,200 square meters, " said Head of the Agam Fisheries and Food Security Service, Ermanto in Lubukbasung, Sunday.

He said that the shrimp ponds were located in Gadang Ketek, Nagari Tiku Selatan, Tanjungmutiara District, with 10 plots with an area of 21,200 square meters.

In addition, in Pasia Paneh, Nagari Tiku Lima Jorong, Tanjungmutiara District, there are six plots with an area of 30,000 square meters.

"The shrimp ponds operate in 2020 and 32 plots with an area of 10 hectares of shrimp ponds in Subang-subang, Nagari Tiku Lima Jorong, Tanjungmutiara District are still in the process of opening," he said.

He admitted that the four shrimp ponds had not received permission from the government.

For this reason, his party urges shrimp pond owners to immediately process permits so that their investment is safe.

"Immediately complete the permit so that investment is safe in Agam," he said.

The potential of whiteleg shrimp ponds on the coast of Tanjungmutiara District, Agam is about 300 hectares spread across Gasan Ketek to Subang-Subang.

However, only about 50 hectares can be processed into shrimp ponds, the rest is in protected forests and mangroves.

"Protected forests and mangroves cannot be processed into shrimp ponds," he said.

Meanwhile, Head of Agam's One-Stop Integrated Service, Investment and Manpower Department Retmiwati, said that a whiteleg shrimp pond company had applied for a permit located in Pasia Paneh, Nagari Tiku Lima Jorong, Tanjungmutiara District.

"The application for a spatial suitability permit at the place of business was submitted to us by the owner on behalf of Ramadi and has been processed," he said.

The permit application has been followed up to the Regional Spatial Planning Coordination Team /TKPRD. The TKPRD contains technical agencies in the form of the General Spatial Workers Office, the Environmental Service, the Forestry Service and others.

Based on the results of the TKPRD, the pond locations were in accordance with the map of the Regional Spatial Plan (RTRW), so that they were allowed to operate because there were no mangrove forests and protected forests.

After the spatial suitability permit is issued, the owner continues to take care of the location permit, environmental permit and pond permit.

"Currently, the permit is still in the early stages and only three stages are left to be handled by the owner. The other three pond owners in Gasan Ketek and Subang-subang have not submitted a spatial suitability permit to us," he said.
