Padang (ANTARA) - The West Sumatra Provincial Government has proposed the application of a Large-Scale Social Restriction (PSBB) to the Ministry of Health and Task Force for Acceleration of COVID-19 Handling to tackle the coronavirus outbreak in the province.
"All mayors and regents support, so we propose provincial PSBB to the central government. Hopefully this can be realized soon so that the spread of COVID-19 can be handled as soon as possible," West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno said on Wednesday.
There are several special requirements that should be met to propose the application of PSBB including the total number of COVID-19 positive patients, the number of positive patients who have died, and transmission patterns that are already epidemic and exponential.

Irwan said that his party had made a proposal letter related to PSBB and sent it to the central government tomorrow.
"Hopefully in the next three days the results have been received," he said.
Related to the technical implementation of PSBB in the field, the West Sumatra Provincial Government will conduct a technical meeting of each sector of social restrictions related to the PSBB technical restriction policy and includes the technical socialization of the implementation of the PSBB of the West Sumatra Province.
"From the results of the meeting, we will put together a package of technical concepts for the implementation of the PSBB with the approval of each Regent / Mayor, while waiting for the Ministry of Health's decision," he said.

Irwan is optimistic that the PSBB submission will be approved by the central government because compared to Riau Province which has been approved by the PSBB, the number of positive cases and cases of death due to COVID-19 in West Sumatra is higher.
Moreover there is elements that are not owned by Riau, such as the number of migrants who return to hometown to West Sumatra. From March 31 to April 15, 2020 there were more than 79,000 migrants entering West Sumatra and were expected to continue to grow.
While the budget needs are planned to reach Rp600 billion. At present, around Rp.400 billion has been set aside, consisting of various activity budgets.
