Aqua CSR Has Been Helped 1,737 People

Arosuka, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Coorperate Social Responsibility (CSR) program of PT Tirta Investama Plant Aqua of Solok District, West Sumatra has been helped 1,737 of beneficiaries since its establishment in 2013 until 2018 in water access sanitation and hygiene (wash) program in that area.

"Wash program already exists in four locations in Kayu Aro and Lubuk Selasih. Moreover, there are two primary schools namely SDN 40 Kayu Aro and SDN 07 Batang Barus. Then it is forming 24 PHBS cadres," Head of PT Tirta Investama Aqua Factory of Solok, Jaitun Sidabutar said in Lubuk Selasih, Monday.

In addition, he mentioned that there is a Community Based Total Sanitation Strategy (STBM) program that seeks to accelerate the improvement of access to basic sanitation in Indonesia, conducted at two points in Kayu Aro and Kayu Jao, Batang Barus Village.

In STBM, there are 489 beneficiaries with 76 septic tanks construction, 12 STBM cadres, 11 times Suplementary Feeding (PMT) for integrated service post in Solok District.

Besides, there is also an avocado and tomato field school program since 2015 which teaches farmers or local communities about training on composting, avocado shoot training, tomato-growing and tomato-processing products, he explained.

"In 2016, there are 20 members who learn, and in 2017 there are 25 people who are participating. Field school activities based on the needs and requests of people who were difficult to sell tomatoes because prices plummeted," he remarked.

In addition, Aqua builds the Biodiversity Park for environmental programs as green open spaces, conservation through local plant collections, educational and plant introduction areas.

"There are 73 species of local plants, and wood plants that we try to plant in the the park with an area less than seven hectares," he pointed out.

Meanwhile, Aqua Center party, Miekel Limena said that there are many things that can be done and explored together for the common interest of Solok people, especially those located around the Aqua plant. (cha/me)
