Government To Strengthen Gunung Padang Development

Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra, continues to strengthen the development of Integrated Tourism Area of Gunung Padang through the addition of supporting infrastructure.

"For tourist facilities, there will be additional rides games, lodging, roads, and arrangement of merchants," Padang Mayor Mahyeldi Ansharullah stated in Padang on Monday.

Related to rides games or means of transportation, his side is waiting for investment from abroad, such as the plan of cable car or tour bus.

Later, there will be Trans Padang bus that will pass the tourism area on the beach.

Especially in the area of Gunung Padang is in the middle of improvements, such as the addition of cottage and repair of Siti Nurbaya grave, as well as the construction of symbol of a giant name on the edge.

In terms of road infrastructure, it is building a connecting road from Muaro to Air Manis Beach and adding road for walking along Padang beach.

It also encourages owners of buildings in the Old City to renovate the cultural heritage.

For the dock, it has been done, including the handling waste at that location.

"In addition to physical development, through activities are also continuously activated," he said.

Some activities in the area continue to be implemented, such as Festival of Siti Nurbaya, Culinary Run, Paddle Palinggam, and Gowes Siti Nurbaya.

For culinary and trader arrangement, his side routinely curb the merchants of field creative products and provide facilities for places to sell.

So far, he said, the response of people and tourists is positive enough so that performance can increase.

"We hope community support, especially in the participation of preserving, cleaning and maintaining conducive atmosphere," he said.

Maritist observers from Andalas University Dr Indra Junaidi Zakaria hoped that in addition to considering tourism, the government also needs to pay attention to sustainability of biological resources in the region.

According to him, Padang sea zone has many species of fish and thousands of plankton, as well as water plants.
