Painan (ANTARA) - The Government of Pesisir Selatan Regency, W Sumatra will focus on developing special interest tourism compared to mass tourism as before in the midst of the COVID-19 virus outbreak.
"Some of the attractions in Pesisir Selatan will be focused on special interest tourism and we are continuing this at present," Regent Hendrajoni said, Wednesday.
Special interest tourism, according to him, has the opportunity to be carried out on islands in the Integrated Marine Tourism Area (KWBT) Mandeh.

Currently, it is also preparing applications in the network that can be used by prospective tourists to register before visiting, and through the application, tourism manager can prepare various purposes.
The application will not only record the number of tourists visiting, but also map the maximum number of visits per day.
If the number of tourists has passed the quota, they are asked to travel on the next day.
According to him the development of special interest tourism is very effective because it will re-excite the world of tourism in the local area.

At the end of May 2020, Pesisir Selatan officially opened a tourist attraction amid the COVID-19 outbreak, but with several provisions. First, managers prioritize the service of small community travel packages such as families, offices, and others.
Managers have to ensure visitors are healthy and without symptoms of COVID-19 and limit visits to high-risk people such as the elderly, and others.
Next priority is on special interest tourism services such as resorts, diving, snorkeling, mountain tourism and so on.
Meanwhile, foreign tourists must include a certificate of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test which states COVID-19 negatively.
