Painan (ANTARA) - The Salido Bridge, which is the only access to Painan, the capital city of Pesisir Selatan Regency, W Sumatra, from Padang City would be inaugurated.

"The construction of the bridge can be said to be 100 percent complete, and in the near future it will be inaugurated," said the Regent of Pesisir Selatan, Hendrajoni when reviewing the bridge on Tuesday.

He said, the construction of the bridge took a budget of Rp12.6 billion, which was sourced from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PU-PR).

With the completion of the bridge construction, there are two bridges in the location that will make the traffic flow more smoothly.

According to him the construction of the bridge has been long awaited by the community because in the locations vulnerable of traffic jams and traffic accidents occur.

This is also in line with the increasingly crowded tourist arrivals to the local area since the last few years.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Bina Marga Division of the Department of Public Works and Spatial Planning of Pesisir Selatan, D Budiman, said that related to the construction of the bridge, he continued to communicate with PUPR Ministry officials.

"The meeting was held in Padang, one of the agenda was related to the inauguration of this bridge," he said.
