Sawahlunto (ANTARA) - Steps to 'smooth out' the Ombilin Coal Mining Heritage of Sawahlunto (OCMHS) road into a world heritage version of the United Nations for Education and Culture Organization (UNESCO) continue to be carried out, the latest with diplomatic requesting support from 20 countries friendly countries participating in the United Nations World Heritage Committee (PBB).

Facilitated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education and Culture, activities titled 'Update from the Region One Day In Ombilin - Sawahlunto.

Head of Sawahlunto City Cultural and Historical Heritage Agency, Hendri Thalib when contacted on Friday stated that support from friendly countries of the  World Heritage Committee PBB was very strategic in determining the 'fate' of the proposed Ombilin Coal Mining Heritage of Sawahlunto (OCMHS ) in the UNESCO World Heritage session later.

"Determination of whether or not the escape of Sawahlunto in the UNESCO world heritage is determined at the 43rd session of the World Heritage Committee in Azerbaijan from June 29  to July 10,  2019. Where are the member countries of the World Heritage Committee who will undergo the trial, "he said.

"So, the meeting with them now, provides information about the Ombilin Coal Mining Heritage of Sawahlunto (OCMHS) as well as asking for their support so that they can pass the Sawahlunto nomination proposal," he added

While the Mayor of Sawahlunto Deri Asta mentioned, that Central government by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Education and Culture also the Provincial Government W Sumatra showed full support for the Ombilin Coal Mining Heritage of Sawahlunto (OCMHS) to qualify as a UNESCO version of the world heritage.

"We are grateful and thankful to the central government and provincial governments who continue to support and assist us," he said.

In the activity opened by the Directorate General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Hilmar Farid, it was also attended by the Deputy Governor of W Sumatra, Nasrul Abit and the Head of the W Sumatra Provincial Culture Agency, Gemala Ranti. From the ranks of the OCMHS nominees, it was also directly by attended the Team Leader, Johny Wongso, who is also the teaching staff of Bung Hatta University.
