Pariaman, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Regional Waters Conservation Area (KKPD) of Pariaman Municipality, West Sumatra records the number of visits during January to December 2017 were 30,000 tourists.


"The tourists visit came from various regions in West Sumatra and other provinces," Management Staff of Pariaman KKPD, Heria Nanda Putra stated in Pariaman on Thursday.


He said the number of visits has decreased compared to 2016 which reached 40,000 tourists for one year.


Since the transfer of authority of Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of Turtle Conservation to West Sumatra Provincial Government, the number of visits has decreased, he said.


"It could be a decline in tourist visits due to the transition period," he added.


In general, he said, the number of visits came from various circles, such as families, students, and students who do research for educational needs.


Then the visits from students come from various regions, such as Aceh, Padang, Yogyakarta, Jakarta, Riau, Medan, Palembang, and other areas.


In fact, he said, in 2016, KKPD of Pariaman noted two foreign nationals (WNA) of the United States and the Netherlands who conducted research on coastal communities in the area.


Peak tourist arrivals usually occur during Eid Al-Fitr holidays, weekends, end of the year and other national holidays.


Tuti (27), one of the tourists from West Pasaman admitted quite interested in tourism object as well as breeding center of KKPD of Pariaman.


He assessed by visiting KKPD of Pariaman with family members, they can travel as well as learn about animals protected by the government. (cha)
