Strawberry Garden in Solok becomes a new tourist attraction

Padang (ANTARA) - Residents of Alahan Panjang, Lembah Gumanti District, Solok Regency, West Sumatra have created a strawberry garden to become an attractive tourist attraction visited by tourists.

One of the managers of the strawberry farm tourism object, Rasmanikar in Alahan Panjang, Monday, said the number of tourists visiting the strawberry garden attraction has continued to increase since it was first opened.

According to her, one of the attractions of tourists visiting the strawberry farm is the strawberry monument that has just been built. Then the place is strategic because it is not far from the edge of the highway and opposite the tourist attraction of the Danau Atas Villa.

"The Strawberry farm with an area of about half an hectare is also neatly arranged so that visitors can enjoy its beauty as a place to take pictures," she said.

She said besides being a photo spot. Visitors can also pick strawberries in the garden to take home.

"The strawberries that have been picked are sold for Rp. 100,000 per kilogram. Then the entrance ticket to the garden is only Rp. 5,000 per person," she said.

She said that despite the Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic, the strawberry garden tourist attraction still applies health protocols, such as every visitor must wear a mask, maintain distance, and wash hands.

She said the visitors to the strawberry garden tourism object came from various regions such as Kerinci, Padang, Kota Solok, Pekanbaru, and several other areas including local residents.

"The idea of making this strawberry garden attraction from my difficulty in selling the strawberry harvest. With the presence of this tourist attraction, strawberries have a high selling value," she said.

She said that in the future the strawberry farm will be expanded. So that visitors can enjoy these attractions.

"After that, we also hope that this tourist attraction can grow the economy of the local community," she said.

Besides that, one of the visitors, Nela Murni (21), said that it was her first time visiting the tourist attraction. She knows the strawberry garden tourist attraction through Instagram social media.

"I see it on Instagram. It looks interesting and unique. Moreover, there is a strawberry monument and after I arrived here, this place is interesting," he said.

According to her, many tourist objects in Lembah Gumanti District are very interesting and have the potential to be developed. However, there are still many that are not well managed.

"We hope that the government will give special attention to tourism management. Because tourism actually has the potential to increase regional income," she said.
