Padang (ANTARA) - A destination that can guarantee strict implementation of the COVID-19 health protocol was believed to have its own charm for tourists who want to travel in a pandemic condition.

"This can be one of the selling points so that the tour package to that destination becomes the choice of tourists," said the Head of the West Sumatra Tourism Office, Novrial when contacted from Padang, Friday.

He said tourist destination areas in West Sumatra had agreed to implement health procedures at these tourist destinations. The agreement was taken at the West Sumatra Tourism Office Coordination Meeting in Batusangkar, Tanah Datar on August 27-28 2020.

Travel that makes sense during a pandemic is tourism with strict health protocols. To support that, destinations must also be ready to implement the same protocol.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Tanah Datar Tourism Office, Abdul Hakim, said that his area is highly committed to preparing tourist objects and supporting facilities such as accommodation, restaurants and souvenir outlets and others who are disciplined in implementing health protocols.

"For example at the Emersia Hotel, where the coordination meeting requires visitors to wear masks, wash their hands, use meeting facilities half of the maximum capacity and all employees have been tested on the PCR SWAB," he said.

Previously, as many as 102 tourism front liners, from hotel workers, restaurant employees, and officers at tourism objects in Tanah Datar, have carried out the PCR SWAB test. This aims to provide a sense of security and comfort for tourists visiting the area.

The coordination meeting also featured two speakers, the first speaker, namely Ir. Oni Yulfian MBTM Director of Regional Destination Development I, Deputy for Destination and Infrastructure Development at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, who gave knowledge about “Application of Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environmental Sustainability (CHSE) Standards for tourist attractions".

Then the Deputy Chancellor of IAIN Batusangkar DR. Sirajul Munir delivered a presentation about the support of Tourism Universities for West Sumatra Tourism.

The West Sumatra Tourism Office is committed to holding regular coordination meetings with hosts who take turns.

At each coordination meeting, the West Sumatra Tourism Office always makes visits to local potential tourism objects to give advise in development to be better.

The coordination meeting was scheduled for a visit to Aua Sarumpun, a beautiful spot in Tanah Datar Regency. There, visitors can enjoy the beauty of Lake Singkarak and the Ekraf Festival with the theme "Art Performances Above the Clouds".
