Padang (ANTARA) - People of Chinese from various associations in Pondok area of Padang City, W Sumatra, this year will hold a grand event of the Cap Go Meh Festival.
Various activities, arts and cultural performances, exhibitions and bazaars of various products, will enliven a series of events held from January 30 to February 8, 2020.
Cap Go Meh Festival in 2020, with the theme "Cap Go Meh Nusantara" with combine various cultures and arts in the country and is expected to entertain all people of the city of Padang, even residents of W Sumatra.
Cap Go Meh 2020, is an activity initiated by a member of the W Sumatra Legislative Council (DPRD) , Albert Hendra Lukman, by utilizing the budget of ideas distributed through the W Sumatra Tourism Office.
The series of Cap Go Meh Festival has been started since January 30, 2020, such as the Bazaar or night market in Himpunan Bersatu Teguh (HBT) building which was opened by the mayor of Padang, Mahyeldi. Then on February 3, the opening of the gallery and art exhibition on Jalan AR Hakim Padang.
On Tue, Feb 4, the activity continued with Arakan Kio's cultural attractions from the Lie-Kwee Family Association which coincided with his 150th birthday, which began at 04.00 p.m. - 07.00 p.m. around the Pondok Padang area.
On Wed, Feb 5, the series of Cap Go Meh Festival continued with multicultural arts performances, at the Caf Bat & Arow Show Building, Jalan Batang Arau no 35 Padang from 07.30 p.m. - 10.30 p.m.
On the following day, Thur, Feb 6, the Cap Go Meh 2020 Committee held a one-day seminar with the theme "Padang Lama in Historical and Future Perspectives".
On Fri, Feb 7, the series of events continued with Arakan Kio from the Lim Family Association who is also 150 this year, starting at 4:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
After that, the multicultural art performance was held again by performing the Gandang Barongsai and Gandang Tasa Pariaman, performances from the Gazal Indian arts community and ended with a Multi-Ethnic collaboration.
The peak of the Cap Go Meh 2020 Festival will be held on Sat, Feb 8, by displaying various arts and culture and the cultural parade of the archipelago, which began at 04:00 p.m. - 07:00 p.m. with the main stage under the Siti Nurbaya bridge, Jalan Batang Arau in Padang city.
The committee also provided cash of IDR 5 million, prizes for the winners of the Youtube Video / Vlog competition. Anyone can join this competition, by uploading a video on Youtube about the Cap Go Meh 2020 celebration in Padang.
"I believe that Cap Go Meh is the most lively this year to make people come to Padang to watch this event, and visitors can be entertained," said Albert Hendra Lukman, Cap Go Meh 2020 Committee.
