Padang (ANTARA) - Bawang goreng is a flavoring and flavor enhancer that is widely used in Indonesian cuisine, especially Padang cuisine. The fried onion industry in Padang, West Sumatra is quite famous because almost every dish in Padang uses fried onions as a complement.
One of the owners of the fried onion industry in Padang is Alimasni (58) who named her fried onion industry with "alimasni onion warehouse" which is located in jln. Pisang No. 37, Padang, West Sumatra. The woman who is familiarly called Bu Uniang has been engaged in this fried onion business for more than 30 years.
BawanggorengbuUniang is a home business that is very famous and has become a favorite of the people of Padang city. In a day of buUniang can achieve a turnover of Rp. 10,000,000 by selling fried onions only.
There are around 9 employees who work in alimasni onion warehouses, with a salary of Rp.500,000 per week. According to its employees, this business not only aims to meet the household needs of Ms. Uniang, but also can help surrounding communities who do not have jobs to increase their income. In processing the ingredients of fried onions, Bu Uniang prefers to use human energy.
"We here also aim for the welfare of society. If you use a machine, human power is not really needed, so because of that, we prefer the traditional way to cut the pangs, "said Ms. Uniang
Onions used to make fried onions are imported onions from Pakistan, New Zealand, and China which are supplied from Medan and AlahanPanjang. With so many enthusiasts of fried onions, Bu Uniang also wants to further advance this business better, such as fried onions from abroad whose quality is better and more interested At the moment, Bu Uniang is constrained by an onion squeezer so that the onions that have been cooked dry quickly from the oil.
"We can already Award twice from the KPK, has often attended statistics". But there has been no response from the government, how can our fried onions be the same as fried onions from outside, "said Bu Uniang
Fried Onions are very synonymous with Indonesian specialties, especially Padang cuisine, which almost all use fried onions. With many interested in fried onions in Indonesia, the government should pay more attention to how fried onions are needed by the people of Indonesia.
"Expectations for the government to support this business are more advanced in order to be able to help how these fried onions are fried. So the government can see the difference between the onion and the inside of the fried onion, "said Bu Uniang
