Dharmasraya Provides Free Fish Seed Assistance To Increase Production

Pulau Punjung, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Dharmasraya District, West Sumatra provides free fish seed assistance to farmers in the area in 2018 as an effort to increase production.

"Types of fish given, among others, 50,000 nila, 20,000 lele, and 5,000 patin," Head of Fisheries Department of Food and Fisheries of Dharmasraya, Yoyok Suharyo stated in Pulau Punjung, Tuesday.

He said the budget used for pond fish farming program reached Rp48 million which comes from Regional Budget (APBD) 2018.

Free seed provision is given for all fish ponds that are developed by local government and community owned ponds, he added.

"The distribution is in accordance with the number of proposals we have approved, the proposal submission process has started since last January," he noted.

He explained that the provision of fish seed is in verification stage by the prospective candidate team location.

It hopes that pond fish farmers can register farmers' groups to legal entities in order to be proposed to obtain central government assistance.

"Because the proposal submission to central government, fish cultivation groups must have a legal entity, have a sustainable cultivation activities, and adequate infrastructure," he pointed out.

He added that people who want to get fish seed for free can submit a proposal to the Office of Food and Fisheries of Dharmasraya at the latest until March in every year. (cha)
