
Pariaman Added Traffic Signaling Tool

Pariaman, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Th Government of Pariaman Municipality, West Sumatra, seeks the addition of a number of Traffic Signal Equipment (APILL) at a number of points to prevent and reduce the number of accidents in the area."In 2018, the Transportation Department of Pariaman has proposed the addition of APILL to local parliament for its installation in Simpang Tabuik, Central Pariaman Sub-district which has to be revitalized," Head of Transportation Agency of Pariaman Yota Balat stated in Pariaman on Monday.He said the addition of APILL is estimated to cost up to Rp350 million for one point. The procurement is required because the traffic lights at the intersection should be replaced.Ideally he said, based on the Minister of Transportation Regulation, every APILL should be revitalized at least every five years so that APILL existence at every junction point will work well to avoid traffic accidents.Then, in 2017 Pariaman Government has also installed two points of Early Warning System at the crossing of a railroad which serve to inform the public who will cross the crossing plot."Up to 100 meters distance the early warning system will provide information to people who will pass, so that traffic accidents can be anticipated as early as possible," he said.He said the early warning system tools only exist in Pariaman and Surabaya. The local government is also seeking to add for installation at a number of other points in 2018."In total, there are 11 railway crossing points from Kurai Taji Station, South Pariaman Sub-district to Pariaman Station, but not all of them have complete security," he explained.It needs such as automatic barriers and early warning systems which are required at each railway crossing to reduce the risk of traffic accidents, he added.
