Bukittinggi Experiences 0.75 Percent Inflation in January

Bukittinggi, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Bukittinggi Municipality, West Sumatra recorded the region experiencing inflation of 0.75 percent in January 2018 with the largest contributor of foodstuffs and health groups.

Head of Bukittinggi BPS, Mukhlis in Bukittinggi, on Thursday, said that overall price developments of various commodities during January 2018 still showed an increase.

The largest price increases occur in onion, red pepper, chicken, dencis, health checks, prescription drugs and others.

In addition to the two expenditure groups, inflation was also contributed by five other spending groups, namely food, beverage, cigarette and tobacco clusters, clothing group.

Housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel groups, education, recreation and sports groups as well as transport, communications and financial services groups.

In January 2018, out of 82 cities consumer price index (CPI), 79 cities experienced inflation.

Bukittinggi is ranked eighth on Sumatra Island and the 29th of all cities in Indonesia that experienced inflation.

Previously, Governor of West Sumatra Irwan Prayitno reminded the regents and mayors in the area are more concerned with inflation and not let the factors that can trigger it alone.

Inflation control, he said, in addition to the comfortable community will also create a conducive investment climate because the prices are stable so that capital owners can estimate while the money will be back.
