
Padang Distributes Incentives To Raise 100 Bovine Cows

Padang, (Antara Sumbar) - The Government of Padang Municipality, West Sumatra distributes incentives to raise 100 bovine cows to farmers in this area, Head of the local agriculture department Syaiful Bahri stated in Padang here, on Wednesday (Sept 27).
He said the incentives which are given are Rp50 million, so that it is Rp500,000 per pregnant cow for a gestational age of at least five months.
"The areas distributed by the incentive are Kuranji, Pasar Ambacang, and Sungai Sapiah," he said.
While the target of incentives is 1,400 cows with a total fund of Rp700 million, so he hopes until the end of the year the target can be achieved.
He said his side had previously distributed incentives to 200 bush cows in Bungus Teluk Kabung.
He explained farmers must give their cows enough nutrition by providing food supplies that fulfill the nutritional standards, so that cattle growth can run well and awake mother and child to be born.
Therefore, the farmers can take advantage of the incentives that have been given to the best for the maintenance of pregnant cows.
Communities, especially farmers, he said, can report to the Department of Agriculture or through hotline service to the number of 0821-7222-272 if there is a cow with five months pregnancy.
"After that, officers will go to the field to check," he said.
The population of cattles in this area are 21,000, 60 percent of them are female cows and 40 percent are bulls.
Padang Mayor Mahyeldi Ansharullah added the incentives were given to motivate farmers to increase livestock populations in their areas. (cha)
