Jakarta, (Antara Sumbar) - Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Zulkifli Hasan has called on all parties, including the younger generation, to face the challenges of today's growing globalization with courage.

"Globalization is not something to be feared but instead to be faced with great courage," Hasan noted in a written statement here on Friday (Sept 8).

Hence, Hasan has called on the students and young people to remain optimistic in facing the era of globalization and technological progress.

Hasan said historical facts indicate that developed nations were those that mastered science by constantly learning and never giving up.

"Through technology, now anyone can learn anything from anywhere. The gates of science are open to those who want to learn and do something new without giving up," the MPR chairman stated.

To this end, he also encouraged young people in various regions of the country to improve their capacity in various areas that can boost their creativity and innovation.

Earlier, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani had urged students to understand the opportunities and challenges in the era of globalization.

"Competition in the era of globalization will be largely determined by the quality of human resources in managing the potential of the nation and the country to compete," she pointed out.

Maharani explained that the government's efforts to improve the quality of Indonesia's human resources are divided into three strategic agendas that can be implemented to develop the potential of Indonesians.

This is to guarantee the fulfillment of basic needs, increase the capabilities of Indonesians, and build the character of the nation.

With regard to globalization, Marine Affairs and Fisheries Minister Susi Pudjiastuti pointed out that the increase in fish consumption will improve the quality of the nation's human resources and can also help Indonesia to face the era of globalization.

On several occasions, Minister Pudjiastuti has emphasized that consuming a protein-rich healthy diet will hold the public in good stead to compete in the globalization era. (*)
