Payakumbuh (ANTARA) - Deputy Mayor of Payakumbuh, West Sumatra, Erwin Yunaz won third place in the "Rendang Challenge" made by one of the famous chefs in Indonesia, William Wongso.

"Alhamdulillah, I am grateful that as Regional Heads in the City of Randang, we participated in this competition and become one of the champions," said Erwin in Payakumbuh, Tuesday.

He added that his party wanted to take part in the competition held by William Wongso to continue to popularize the branding of Payakumbuh as The City of Randang.

Erwin Yunaz is indeed focused on popularizing Rendang  while showing his expertise in cooking rendang.

"Actually I am not an expert in cooking rendang, but I can and my hobby is cooking rendang which I learned from my beloved mother and my family when I was a teenager," he explained.

He said that the Payakumbuh Government is continuing to strive to realize the brand The City of Randang, which has been known to the public so far to become more widely known on a global scale.

Erwin said that it took a lot of effort and a long time to make Payakumbuh The City of Randang branding a global brand.

"We know the importance of branding for a city. Alhamdulillah, we succeeded in making a new icon for the City of Payakumbuh. We will continue to popularize, one of which is with a competition like this," he said.

According to him, good branding will be useful to move the regional economy. So that it can provide welfare to Rendang UKM players in Payakumbuh.

This competition was made by William Wongso in celebrating Indonesia's 75th Anniversary. Every dish from the winner will be reviewed by the famous chef on his You Tube channel.
