Bukittinggi (ANTARA) - Mayor of Bukittinggi, W Sumatra M Ramlan Nurmatias announced four new cases of residents of the area positive for coronavirusdisease (COVID-19) after one month without additional cases.

"On Thursday night (5/7) there was one additional case and before that on the same day there were also three new cases of our citizens positive for COVID-19," he said in Bukittinggi, Friday.

One case was a 23-year-old resident of Manggis Gantiang Village who had just returned from Jakarta on April 24, 2020 due to college leave.

He said, the resident  was cooperative because after returning from Jakarta he immediately conducted an independent quarantine at his home, and reported his condition to the nearest health center.

"last night at 11.30 P.M. we received the results of his swab examination and he is positive for COVID-19, we immediately took him to Bukittinggi Hospital," he said.

Three other cases that were known in the afternoon were two health workers who worked at the Baso Puskesmas, Agam Regency and one supporting staff who served at Bukittinggi Hospital.

After the addition of the new case, Ramlan said the government immediately conducting contact tracing of positive COVID-19 patients and took nasal or throat fluid samples.

"In total there are about 60 people. We have got the permission to take nasal and throat fluid samples or do swabs from the Health Service so today we can do it so that treatment can be faster," he explained.
