Jambi (ANTARA) - Governor of Jambi, Fachrori Umar instructed the Jambi Provincial Forestry Service to examine the efficacy of Sungkai leaf to treat Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In this research, the Forest Service in coordination with BPOM (National Food and Drug Agency), Labkesda (Regional Health Laboratory ) and the Jambi Provincial Health Office in order to obtain more comprehensive results.
Fachrori hopes that the results of the research on the efficacy of Sungkai leaf can be known as soon as possible. Fachrori also hopes that Sungkai leaf can treat patients infected with COVID-19.

The Jambi Governor's order to the Forestry Service to examine the benefits of Sungkai leaf treating COVID-19 began with a statement from the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) as Chief of Task Force for Acceleration of Covid-19 Handling, Lt. Gen. Monardo in the development meeting for COVID-19 handling, Head of BNPB with the governors in Indonesia, which were carried out through a video conference on Wednesday (4/22) yesterday.
Doni Monardo said he got information that Sungkai leaf have properties that can kill the corona virus.
Therefore, the Head of BNPB asked the Governor of Jambi to conduct research on the benefits of the Sungkai leaf.
"This plant according to information grows a lot in Jambi Province. Please convey to us as soon as possible whatever the results. Thank you Mr. Fachrori," said Doni Monardo at the time.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations and Protocol the Provincial Secretariat as the Spokesman for the Jambi Province Task Force for Acceleration of Covid-19 Handling, Johansyah added, if Sungkai leaves were proven to be able to treat COVID-19, the results were immediately published.
