Batusangkar, (Antaranews Sumbar) - A total of 13 of 25 kinds of batik motifs of Nagari (traditional village) Pariangan, Tanah Datar District, West Sumatra have Intellectual Property Rights (HKI) issued by Ministry of Justice and Human Rights.
The inventor of Pariangan batik motif, Irwan Malin Basa in Batusangkar, Tuesday, said the patent handling of the motifs has been done since last year.
"So far the number of HKI which has gotten is only 13 motifs, and the rest is in the process of getting it," he stated.
He explained some motifs that already have HKI among them is Rantiang Saliguri motif registered in October 2017.
Next, there are the motifs of Dama Kapadam, Upiah Kalamai, Labuah Sitimbago and Bintang Tatabua registered in early January 2018.
Meanwhile, the motifs of Jurai Suku, Mangkuto Rajo, Kilek Barapi, Bungo Lado and Sirangkak Itam Kuku are registered on February 27.
"With the existence of this patent, the motifs that characterize Nagari Pariangan may not hijacked by parties who are not responsible," he remarked.
He added that in the future, he hopes there are parties who intend to fund the production of batik on a large scale so that Pariangan batik increasingly famous and helped improve the welfare of craftsmen.
Besides, Wali (head) of Nagari Pariangan, April Khatib Saidi mention batik of Paringan is one of the leading products in the area.
According to him, although Pariangan batik is new, but its presence has enough place in the community and it targets the batik can be known throughout Indonesia. (cha)
