Parit Malintang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Government of Padang Pariaman District, West Sumatera exploits the potential of cultural heritage in the area for tourism.

Regional Secretary of Padang Pariaman District, Jonpriadi in Parit Malintang, said that there are 25 cultural heritages in the area registered at Conserving Heritage Public Hall of West Sumatra and about 15 more cultural results are being attempted to become protected cultural heritages.

"But the amount found is still considered a little because there are still many cultural heritage that has not been recorded," he noted.

According to her cultural heritage in the area, it deserves to be a tourist attraction. The cultural heritage in the area that has become a tourist attraction such as Tomb of Sheikh Burhanuddin in Ulakan Tapakis Sub-district.

"Cultural heritage will continue to be developed to increase the income of local residents," he remarked.

In addition, the Government of Padang Pariaman is renovating the white house which is a former residence of the Netherlands.

The location of the house is adjacent to the tourism object of Lubuk Bonta in Nagari Kapalo Hilalang.

Previously, Director of Conservation of Culture and the Ministry of Education and Culture, Harri Widianto said many values and benefits that can be taken with the existence of cultural heritage.

"The values can be for education and introducing ancestral culture to young generation," he said.

By introducing the culture to the younger generation, it can minimize the influence of western culture that damages the character of children due to globalization. (cha)
