Tofu, Tempe Demand in West Pasaman Increased

Simpang Empat, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Public demand for food especially tofu and tempe (fermented soybean cake) during Ramadhan (fasting month) 1439 Hijriah increased from usual so that its trader need to add the stock about 20 percent, one trader in Simpang Empat, Lina stated on Saturday.

She said the increase in demand has occurred since the beginning of Ramadhan, but the price is still normal.

She mentioned that tempe is sold at ranges from Rp2,000 to Rp5,000 per pack.

Meanwhile tofu is sold at ranges from Rp200 to Rp400 per slice or it depends on the size and demand of people in the market.

According to her, the high demand of community is the impact of high needs of people and traders during Ramadhan until ahead of Eid.

She confessed one merchant claimed to be able to spend about 10 jerry cans of tofu and 20 kilograms of tempe during Ramadhan, whereas previously only ranged from six jerry cans of tofu and about 15 kilograms of tempe. (cha)
