
Agam Anticipates Beef Needs During Ramadhan

Lubukbasung, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The government of Agam District, West Sumatra, confirmed the availability of beef for the needs during Ramadhan (fasting month) to Eid al-Fitr (Idul Fitri) 1439 Hijriah by sufficient to anticipate the population data collection and demand required.
"Based on data collection of cattlle population in Agam, it reached 33,863 cows and 21,519 buffaloes spread across 16 sub-districts," Daily Agent of Agam Agricultural Service, Arief Restu stated in Lubukbasung.
He said the number of cow and buffalo cuts ahead of Ramadhan and Eid al-Fitr in last year as many as 443 cattles.
"With that condition, the supply of beef is safe in the area ahead of Ramadhan until Eid al-Fitr 1439 Hijriah and currently the price of beef in traditional markets reaches Rp120 thousand per kilogram," he explained.
In addition to beef, supplies of rice and red chili are also safe in the area at the same time.
Rice production in the area in January to April 2018 amounted to 197,126 tons.
Meanwhile, the need of rice for 476,881 people of Agam is 61,995 tons, non consumption of 10,758 tons and rice stock surplus during Eid al-Fitr reaches 50,924 tons.
Meanwhile, red chili production from January to April 2018 is 12,955 tons, consumption requirement for household is 3,641 tons and surplus is 9,314 tons.
"With this condition, the need for rice and chili will be sufficient later," he remarked. (cha)
