Payakumbuh, (Antaranews Sumbar) - Regional Logistics Agency (Bulog) prepares a stock of 600 tons of rice for Payakumbuh, West Sumatra to anticipate the price spikes ahead of Ramadhan (fasting month) and Eid Al-Fitr 1439 Hijriah.
"Until now, there are 600 tons of rice for Payakumbuh which is prepared for the security of prices," Head of Bulog Sub Divre Bukittinggi, Sultani stated while being contacted from Payakumbuh on Wednesday.
He added that the stock could be sufficient for up to three months, good for price security and social assistance of prosperous rice.
Existing stocks will be released through market operations in the event of a spike in prices ahead of Ramadhan.
In carrying out the Bulog market operations, there is no need to wait for requests from local governments.
Besides rice, Bulog also prepares sugar stock for Payakumbuh at number of 222 tons.
As for other commodities such as chili, meat and onions, Bulog is still monitoring the market price developments.
Meanwhile, Payakumbuh municipal government is also preparing a number of programs to stabilize the price of staple goods during Ramadhan. (cha)
