Trade Ministry Ensures Main Commodities Prices are Stable Before Ramadhan

Padang, (Antaranews Sumbar) - The Ministry of Trade ensures the price of basic needs in some regions in the country is stable and the availability of sufficient stocks are enough to welcome Ramadhan (fasting month) and Lebaran (Eid Al-Fitr Day).

International Relations Expert Staff, Dody Edward in Padang on Wednesday, stated that during a sudden inspection to Raya Market Padang with West Sumatra Governor Irwan Prayitno to review the price of basic needs.

According to him, as an effort to stabilize food prices, local government will synergize with relevant stakeholders such as Bulog to keep the prices under control.

If there is a shortage of rice stock, Bulog will hold a market operation. Then for the meat stock, it will take the associated association.

Dody remarked that based on inspection results to several places, the price of staple goods is stable and it has sufficient stock.

To the traders, he appealed to sell the price of basic commodities in accordance with the highest retail price set by government.

Meanwhile, Governor of West Sumatra Irwan Prayitno conveyed that it has made a special team in welcoming Ramadhan and Lebaran so that commodity prices can be controlled.

The team will prepare a number of efforts including holding market operations if stocks are scarce, he added. (cha)
